This advanced bakkie, unveiled only six months ago at the Shanghai Automotive Show, is the result of over four years of dedicated development and extensive global testing. South Africa holds a unique position as the first right-hand-drive market for this exciting new addition, underscoring its crucial role in JAC Motors’ global expansion strategy.

The T9 stands as JAC Motors’ most advanced bakkie to date and is built on their cutting-edge third-generation international LCV platform. Since its inception 60 years ago as a Chinese truck manufacturer, JAC Motors has made significant strides, entering the LCV and passenger car markets in 2007. Now, the company manufactures the T9 range in China for export to over 40 countries where the brand has a presence.
The T9, with its commanding road presence, is poised to spearhead JAC Motors’ venture into the rapidly growing double-cab market with a leisure-focused approach. The T9 2.0L CTi range includes four Lux and Super Lux derivatives, offering both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations to cater to a wide range of preferences.

The T9 range features a brand-new engine lineup from JAC Motors. It debuts this year with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, with plans for a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) models in 2024.
The T9’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged, direct-injected, common-rail diesel engine boasts an intercooler and Electrical Variable Geometry Turbocharger (EVGT), delivering 125 kW at 3,600 rpm and 410 Nm between 1,500 to 2,500 rpm, ensuring an exceptional everyday driving experience.
Paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, this highly efficient turbo-diesel engine ensures smooth power transfer to the rear wheels. The transmission provides various driving modes, including Sport, Normal, Eco, and Snow, maximizing efficiency and delivering a relaxed driving experience. The 4×4 models offer electronic part-time 4WD with low range and a rear diff-lock, enhancing their off-road capability.

The T9’s captivating design, crafted in JAC Motors’ international design centers in Italy and Japan, radiates contemporary appeal. Its muscular front end, featuring a prominent vertical chrome bar grille, enhances its road presence. Integrated LED Daytime Running Lights, Xenon Headlamps, and Fog Lamps blend seamlessly into the front bumper design, setting it apart from competitors. The JAC badge, boldly embossed on the grille, further contributes to the T9’s arresting design.
